Mirissa

Mirissa is a crescent-shaped stretch of beach located about 40km (50 mins) south-east of Galle. It is rapidly gaining popularity amongst tourists but still remains unspoiled. It is a perfect place to relax. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. There are over 300 hotel, rental and other accommodations in the area. You have the added bonus of being able to go whale and dolphin watching during the months of Dec – April. There is no guarantee that you will see any but even if you don't it is still a fun experience.

Other notable beaches are Negambo, Bentota, Hikkaduwa, Unawatuna, Nilaveli, Arugam Bay and Kalpitiya.
